Google lists. AI recommends.
The way people find local businesses is changing. Being on page one of Google isn't the same as being the business an AI assistant names.
| Google search | AI assistants |
|---|---|
| Shows a page of links | Usually names a handful of businesses |
| The customer scrolls and compares | The customer often trusts the answer and gets in touch |
| You can pay for ads at the top | You can't pay to be recommended. It has to be earned |
See a real example: you can rank #1 on Google and still lose half your clicks.
How it works
Start with the free check. Everything after that is optional.
Quick check
Enter your website. In about 20 seconds we score how ready it is for AI: whether AI and search engines can get in, your titles and structured data, and how well your copy answers questions.
Free report
Tell us what you do and where. We ask ChatGPT and check Google's AI Overviews for a business like yours, then email you who they recommend, and whether that includes you.
Done-for-you improvements (optional)
If you want help, we make the changes for you and you approve them first. Then we track how AI assistants talk about you each month.
Who it's for
Any business whose customers ask AI before they buy. That includes local service businesses (HVAC, plumbing, roofing, dentists, med spas, law firms, financial advisors, real estate agents), online stores, and online services, software and content sites.
Questions
What does the free check look at?
Ten things AI assistants and search engines rely on: whether AI crawlers and search engines are allowed in, your page title and meta tags, structured data, an llms.txt guidance file, and whether your homepage copy is unique, relevant, well written for search and easy for AI chatbots to quote. The result is a score out of 100.
Is it really free?
Yes. The quick check and the emailed report cost nothing and there is no obligation. If you later want help, those are paid services, and we explain the options and prices before you commit to anything.
Why might my report differ from what I see when I ask ChatGPT myself?
AI answers vary from day to day and from person to person. Your report is a snapshot of what the assistants said on the day we asked, not a guarantee of what every customer sees.
How is this different from SEO?
SEO aims to get your website onto Google's list of links. AI assistants work differently: they usually name a small number of businesses, based on how clearly your website explains what you do and what other sources say about you. Ranking well on Google does not guarantee that AI recommends you.
Can you guarantee my business will be the top recommendation?
No. Nobody can guarantee a position in AI answers, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we can do is show you where you stand today and what would improve it.
What happens to my details?
We use them to prepare and send your report and may follow up once about it. We don't sell them. You can ask us to delete them at any time by emailing support@getarmitage.com.
